Coming from the corporate world, conference call services were something always provided. We small biz owners must seek, analyze and implement the tools and processes best suited for our needs.

Fitting the bill nicely is Free Conference call at http://freeconferencecall.com.
This tool has evolved over the last few months and now offers:

  • Free Conference Calls (with free recording & call stats)
  • Simple Voice Box
  • Simple Toll Free
  • Simple Voice Center
  • Simple Event
  • Go To Meeting
  • Free International Conference Call

We will look at the first two. Registration for the free number consists of giving a name and e-mail address. You will receive a page detailing your conference call number, access numbers and instructions on how to record the call. Your number is a toll number – not an 800 number. They do offer a toll-free number that is .06/min. plus an initial fee. After you register, place a reminder on your calendar to renew the service within 120 days, or you will lose your number. A great free service is the ability to record your calls–they are saved for 120 days. The host provides a separate number and access code to access the recorded call. Stats on your call are automatically sent to your e-mail after each call. The only bothersome thing I can find to say about this is that the “music” one is subjected to while waiting for the second caller is quite painful (in an annoying kind of way). Besides typical business uses, it’s a great way to have family meetings or communicate with your kid’s soccer team.

The Free Simple Voice Box service is a great resource. It can function as both a traditional voicemail service or it can be used as a broadcast service for any information you need to relay. Put it on your website for people to call if you don’t have a dedicated office line or don’t want to publish your phone number. You are notified via e-mail when a message is received. If you are using it as a broadcast tool, subscribers will automatically receive your updated messages through podcasting and RSS feeds.
